In class, we studied Rosa Parks and segregation in the USA during the fifities.
Here are the pictures we described together:
On this picture, Rosa is sitting at the front of a bus, in the white section. At that time, black people were not allowed to sit at the front of buses: they had to sit at the back. On day, Rosa decided to sit at the front because she was fed up with segregation laws; afterwards, she was arrested because she refused to give up her seat to a white man.
On this picture, Rosa Parks is holding her detention identification. On the right, a policeman is taking her fingerprints. Rosa was the first Black person and the first woman to stand up against segregation laws. Her arrestation paved the way to the rise of the Civil Rights Movement, starting with the Montgomery Bus boycott initialized by Martin Luther King himself.
