some ideas for your final slam...

Dear students, here is the link to the website I told you about if you want to find a specific form of slam for your final task. You can have a look. You have an alphabetical list on the right of the page. Some may seem a little difficult to realize, so you can just either adapt or choose a more simple form. Good work!

Your creatures poetry

Second poetry writings... Well done...

Imagine
That you're
In a house
And you heard something
Fall on the first floor
Eventhough you slept so good
You walk until the first floor... strange!
A ghost is dancing rock with his husband
Right heard Michael Jackson and watch a football match
'It isn't possible! I dream! At this moment you wake up'.
Maxime

Inside
The forest
One elf lives.
Nature seems so important
To him since he loves
Running, jumping betwwen the high trees,
He is powerful, and mysterious he is,
Great warrior, he could destroy the whole humanity,
Which is violent, unfair, and hurts Nature and Elves,
But he is peaceful, wise and always forgives his murderer.
Julie

Casper,
White, invisible,
I am alone,
I go through walls.
So people are very terrifyed
But they do not know something
That I am not evil at all,
Even if I seem to be very mischievous
Especially mysterious. I assure you that I 'm not cruel
I'm not a ghost like the others, a spirit-rapper,
But on the contrary I need some friends to play together.
Marie

Ogre
You know
The big green
Who lives in
Marrest with a donkey
Who fights against a dragon.
Quentin

Creatures,
Violent, brave,
Vampires are terrifying,
Because they drink blood.
Centaurs, fairies are very nice,
Elves are the symbol of Nature.
Claire

Schtroumphs,
Always laughing,
Under their roof,
They have blue skin,
They are cute but not ugly,
Thus, do not worry, they are beautiful,
And you know this slam is so full.

Slam Poetry: let's try!

Here is the first class production: What do you think about it?

What is English?

English is...
When you love travelling or visiting a foreign country,
It's like loving rock 'n roll
It's like a good ride session with reggae songs!
It's like giving free hugs to people we love
It's like seeing a sunset with music
It's like a beach, the sea.

For others, it's like loving the sun
Listening to the music or
Always loving someone.
It's like making a wave under the sun: it's so beautiful!
It's also when there is lots of sunshine sometimes:
Every ray of sun is a ray of love.

Finally, English is like
Eating an ice-cream
It's a passion, a vocation, a love: it's like the police!
It's like my love for Italian
Or like enjoying football when the French team wins (of course)
It's like the holidays, or reading
It's like my passion for chocolate or for my friends
Or like the beautiful ferraries that I love
It's like the weather, or like eating an apple.

To conclude, let's say it's just like the good memories from my week end.

Rosa Parks and segregation in the US

In class, we studied Rosa Parks and segregation in the USA during the fifities.

Here are the pictures we described together:

On this picture, Rosa is sitting at the front of a bus, in the white section. At that time, black people were not allowed to sit at the front of buses: they had to sit at the back. On day, Rosa decided to sit at the front because she was fed up with segregation laws; afterwards, she was arrested because she refused to give up her seat to a white man.

On this picture, Rosa Parks is holding her detention identification.

On the right, a policeman is taking her fingerprints. Rosa was the first Black person and the first woman to stand up against segregation laws. Her arrestation paved the way to the rise of the Civil Rights Movement, starting with the Montgomery Bus boycott initialized by Martin Luther King himself.

During the Christmas holidays, you had to prepare the biography of a famous person who played an important role in the Civil Rights Movement around the world. Some of you chose Martin Luther King.
You will find hereafter Martin Luther King's famous speech 'I have a Dream'.

Advertising Romeo and Juliet

FINAL TASK: Here is an interesting representation of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. It's rather modern, yet the atmosphere is very faithful to the original version.

For your final task, you will have to propose a poster, or leaflet advertising Romeo and Juliet.

Here are the instructions again:
You work has to be:

- personal

- original

- it must not be a simple presentation of the film (type jackette de film)

- the atmosphere of the film must be felt throughout your work

- it must be attractive: people must feel like watching the film.

- you will add some text
Good work...

Romeo and Juliet

ROMEO + JULIET

Some facts:
It's a tragedy written early in the career of the playwright William Shakespeare about two young 'star-cross'd lovers' whose deaths ultimately unites their feuding families. It was among Shakespeare's most popular plays during his lifetime and it is, along with Mcbeth and Hamlet, one of his most frequently performed plays. Today, the title characters are regarded as archetypal young lovers......

Here is the trailer of the movie Romeo and Juliet we studied in class.
